When I was 13 I watched a trailer for the release of ED REC, a compilation by Ed Banger Records, I really wasn't that keen on their music previously but the way it was presented was looked so delicious and attractive. The art direction was so powerful it seemed to make an instant mirco-sub-culture around that one record label. It was created by Parisian artist 'So-Me' who was also the creative director for the label. I became obsessed with his work and this small beautiful world his art had created. It was around then that I decided my goal was to become the creative director of a record label, one that put out forward thinking music I was into and that I could use my art to create a linked aesthetic. Six years later I did just that (I hope anyway) with Mute Records here in Brighton, I am their creative director.
I have two goals next. I would like to create a successful music video and put on a live AV show. I am currently working on the first of these goals, It's a video for a track by a talented producer and good friend of mine; Akito, which should be released on Tight Knit Records later this year. The second goal I am taking my time with because I want it to be perfect and there would be MANY variables which are liable to fail and ruin the whole event. I DJ as well so it would be a good way of combining both my interests and doing a show as original as and hype-idiosyncratic as possible.
