Howard Carter:
the documentry showed how King Tut was mummified with all his prized possessions surrounding him. It reminded me of the 'bling-bling' ethos adopted by many rappers. I started by researching the people who actually invented the phrase 'bling bling' itself: Pen & Pixel.
PEN AND PIXEL HIP-HOP COVERS
It may seem like a tenuous link, but watching the documentary, I saw this one particular shot (as pictured above). Which reminded me of a certain dramatic 80's, techy, Tron sort of aesthetic. This caught my imagination as I started to apply this imagery to King Tut.
GENERAL NOTE TO SELF
While Iv'e been doing this work Iv'e been away visiting my family in devon over christmas, before doing so I, honestly, had no work for this project. Since I got here though, I am more productive than ever. If I want to be a good, productive artist I should make my life as boring as possible and only hang out with people I have no desire to party with - such as my instant and extended family.
